Informazioni di prodotto e di utilizzo
Non-destructive moisture meter for concrete slabs and screeds, to ASTM F2659. Immediate moisture percentage reading on the analogue dial, with scales equivalent to the carbide method (CM) for cement and anhydrite. Measuring depth approx. 20 mm, contact spring for a stable signal, Bluetooth for the Tramex Meters app. Made in Ireland, 1-year warranty.
What the Tramex CME5 is
The Concrete Moisture Encounter CME5 is the Tramex instrument dedicated to checking moisture in concrete floors before laying resins, parquet, PVC and carpet. Placed on the clean slab, it measures by impedance the moisture content of the surface layer of the pour and shows it as a percentage on the analogue dial, within seconds and without drilling. The additional scales give the equivalent carbide-method (CM) value for cement and for anhydrite, the reference used in European specifications. The speed of the test makes it possible to map large areas and to choose where to carry out more in-depth in-situ tests.
Who it is for
- Installers of resin, timber, PVC and carpet flooring: checking that the substrate is suitable before installation.
- Building contractors and screed layers: checking the drying of cement and anhydrite slabs and screeds.
- Site supervisors and inspectors: quick mapping to ASTM F2659 to identify the points to test with the in-situ method.
- Water-damage restoration companies: monitoring the drying of floors after flooding.
Why choose it
- Quantitative reading on concrete. Calibrated against the gravimetric oven-drying method: moisture percentage 0–6 % on clean, uncovered slabs, not just a comparative value.
- Scales equivalent to the carbide method. CM value for cement (0–4) and for anhydrite (0–1.9) directly on the dial, without destructive testing.
- ASTM F2659 compliant. The reference standard for the non-destructive assessment of moisture in substrates before installation.
- Contact spring. When the instrument is pressed down fully, the spring-loaded base ensures even electrode contact and repeatable readings.
- Bluetooth and the Tramex Meters app. Colour-coded floor moisture maps, photos with the reading overlaid and reports for the customer.
- Optional extendable handle. With the E5-HBS extension you can measure standing up, without kneeling, across the whole surface.
How it works
The coplanar electrodes on the base send a low-frequency signal into the floor; the signal strength varies with the amount of water in the material and the instrument converts it into the value shown. The field extends to a depth of approximately 20 mm. Readings taken through paints, coatings, adhesives or other layers should be regarded as qualitative or comparative, not quantitative. For anhydrite screeds, the dedicated CM scale is used.

Selection guide: when to choose the CME5
The CME5 is the analogue meter calibrated for concrete (ASTM F2659), with scales equivalent to the carbide method for cement and anhydrite screeds. Non-invasive measurement: ideal for checking suitability for laying floors and resins and for locating areas of a slab that are still damp.
Consider another model if: you need a digital display, a hygrometer and several measuring modes (CMEX5); you work on wood and building materials (ME5 / MEX5); you carry out marine surveys (Skipper 5).
If in doubt, contact us: our technical support will recommend the right model for your application.
Integration and programming
The CME5 is direct-reading: choose the scale (concrete, cement or anhydrite) and read the value on the dial, with no setup.
The Bluetooth connection with the free Tramex Meters app (iOS and Android) lets you record readings with date, time and location, create moisture maps and PDF inspection reports, and archive inspections and compare them over time.
To scan slabs and screeds while standing: E5-HBS telescopic extension, with a dedicated bracket.
Calibration and repair
The CME5 is factory-calibrated and needs no adjustment. Check its response with the CALCRH calibration check plate; the MESP electrode protectors protect the spring-loaded electrodes. The AP-CM accessory set combines the check plate, extension, protectors and carrying case.
Service: for periodic verification with a report, electrode replacement or any repair, RODER S.r.l. – INNOVACHECK division handles the service in Italy in cooperation with Tramex. Contact us, stating the model and serial number.
