Informazioni di prodotto e di utilizzo
The complete digital moisture meter for concrete floors: five non-destructive scales (concrete %, CM cement, CM anhydrite, gypsum, reference), built-in ambient hygrometer, input for Hygro-i2 probes for in-situ relative humidity to ASTM F2170 and input for pin probes for timber. Backlit digital display, Bluetooth for the Tramex Meters app. Made in Ireland, 1-year warranty.
What the Tramex CMEX5 is
The Concrete Moisture Encounter X5 brings together in a single instrument the two approaches Tramex recommends for testing substrates: the quick non-destructive test, which measures the surface layer of the slab and shows where to investigate further, and the in-situ relative humidity test with a probe in a drilled hole (ASTM F2170, BS 8201/8203), which gives the decisive value for installation. In addition, the built-in hygrometer records the ambient conditions and, with the optional pin probes, the instrument also measures the moisture content of timber. Everything is shown on the digital display and in the Tramex Meters app.
Who it is for
- Inspectors and site supervisors: non-destructive testing and in-situ ASTM F2170 testing with a single instrument, with reporting.
- Resin and technical flooring installers: quantitative checking of slab moisture and of ambient conditions at installation.
- Screed layers: dedicated scales for cement, anhydrite and gypsum.
- Water-damage restoration companies: monitoring of slab drying against an adjustable target.
- Existing CME5 users who need numerical data, in-situ tests and data storage.
Why choose it
- Five non-destructive scales. Concrete %MC, CM cement, CM anhydrite/gypsum, gypsum reference 0–12 and reference scale 0–100: the right scale for every substrate.
- Integrated in-situ ASTM F2170 test. With the Hygro-i2 probes in the hole, the instrument switches automatically to RH mode and shows equilibrium relative humidity, temperature, dew point and humidity ratio.
- Built-in ambient hygrometer. Relative humidity, temperature, dew point and humidity ratio of the environment are always visible at the bottom of the display.
- Pin mode for timber. With the pin probe connected, it measures 5–30 % MC in timber: useful for parquet and timber subfloors.
- Backlit digital display and 8 membrane keys. Clear reading even on poorly lit job sites; automatic switch-off after 5 minutes.
- Bluetooth and the Tramex Meters app. Moisture maps, georeferenced readings, psychrometric charts and exportable reports.
How it works
In non-destructive mode, the coplanar electrodes on the base generate a low-frequency electric field in the concrete to a depth of approximately 20 mm; the reading is calibrated against the gravimetric oven-drying method and converted into the equivalent CM scales. When the Hygro-i2 probe is connected, inserted in a sleeved hole in accordance with ASTM F2170, the instrument measures the equilibrium relative humidity within the body of the slab. With the pin probe, it measures the electrical resistance in timber and converts it into %MC.

Selection guide: when to choose the CMEX5
The CMEX5 is the digital meter for concrete and screeds with four measuring modes: non-invasive on concrete, carbide-equivalent scales for cement and anhydrite, in-situ relative humidity testing with Hygro-i2 probes (ASTM F2170) and measurement with pin probes. Built-in hygrometer for ambient conditions.
Choose it if you need to certify suitability for laying with numerical values and standardised tests, or to document the drying of slabs and screeds over time.
Consider another model if: a quick dial reading is enough for you (CME5); you work on wood and building materials (ME5 / MEX5); you carry out marine surveys (Skipper 5).
If in doubt, contact us: our technical support will recommend the right model for your application.
Integration and programming
From the CMEX5 menu you select the measuring mode and material; in-situ and pin RH probes are connected to the dedicated inputs. The CMP probe for in-situ measurement in concrete allows measurement at depth within the body of the concrete.
The Bluetooth connection with the free Tramex Meters app (iOS and Android) lets you record readings with date, time and location, create moisture maps and PDF inspection reports, and archive inspections and compare them over time.
For standing measurements on slabs and screeds: E5-HBS telescopic extension. If you need to feed the reports into a company document workflow, our technical team will help you set it up.
Calibration and repair
The CMEX5 is factory-calibrated and needs no adjustment. Check its response with the CALCRH calibration check plate; the MESP electrode protectors protect the electrodes. The AP-CM accessory set combines the check plate, extension, protectors and carrying case.
